Former teacher convicted of abuse seeks new trial

A former teacher who was convicted of abusing a girl at the Onondaga Nation School in New York is seeking a new trial.

Albert Scerbo, 45, says two jurors influenced the guilty verdict by introducing evidence during deliberations. The two jurors were a teacher and a retired teacher who allegedly said Scerbo was guilty because he should have been trained not to touch students.

Scerbo was charged with abusing or endangering 17 girls. Most of the charges were dropped and he was convicted of two counts of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
