Default judgment issued in 'membership' case

A Texas judge issued a default judgment against an unrecognized group that is accused of selling "membership" cards to immigrants.

The Kaweah Indian Nation of Kansas is not recognized by the state or federal government. Its leaders failed to respond to a lawsuit in Texas for selling fake memberships to immigrants, the judge ruled.

Immigrants said they paid up to $400 in hopes of gaining U.S. citizenship through the Kaweah group.
