Navajo Nation Head Start director selected

The Navajo Nation has selected a permanent director for its Head Start program.

Spencer Willie starts December 10. He was the government liaison for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority.

"Spencer Willie's heart is in the right place, and one cannot go wrong with a man like that," Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. said in a statement.

The Head Start program lost all federal funds after a review found employees with criminal backgrounds The tribe was able to regain the money after conducting background checks and making changes.
