Barona Band awards $90K in education grants

The Barona Band of Mission Indians awarded $90,000 in education grants to schools across California.

The 18 schools each received $5,000. They will use the money for everything from new library books to computers.

Since being launched in 2006, the Barona Education Grant program has awarded $300,000 to schools. The Barona Band says the grant program is the first of its kind to be created and administered by a tribe.
