Alaska Native corp. executive was forced out

Orie Williams, the outgoing president and CEO of Doyon Ltd., an Alaska Native regional corporation, says he was forced to resign from his post by the board of directors.

The corporation announced Williams' resignation last week. But no reason was given and the board said the move wasn't related to "the company’s operational performance or financial condition, both of which remain strong."

Williams, however, said he was forced to leave despite Doyon's success. The corporation posted a record profit in fiscal year 2006 and revenues have increased 114 percent, with net income up 337 percent.

A group of shareholders called Friends of Doyon is questioning why Williams was forced out.
