Fond du Lac chairwoman survives ouster attempt

The first woman to lead the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa survived an ouster complaint on Monday.

The Minnesota tribe's business committed voted 4-0 to reject the allegations made against Karen Diver. She had been accused of malfeasance, dereliction or neglect of duty and refusal to comply with any provisions of the constitution and bylaws of the tribe.

Diver was elected in January 2007 as the tribe's first female chair.
