South Dakota State Rep. Jim Bradford, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, says Gov. Mike Rounds (R) ignored Indian issues during the State of the State on Tuesday.
Bradford said he was pleased that Rounds wants to preserve sacred Bear Butte.
Rounds wants to spend $1 million to buy land around the site to block development and encroachment from the Sturgis biker rally.
But other than that, Bradford said Rounds ignored Indian Country.
"He was pretty much riding a white horse, as far as I'm concerned," Bradford told The Rapid City Journal. "And I didn't see any red in the real presentation."
Native Americans are 8.6 percent of the state population, according to the 2000 U.S. Census.
