Chippewa Cree woman wins small business award

Jean Zabrocki, a member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, has been named the 2007 Minority Small Business Person of the Year award for Montana.

Zabrocki, 51, was chosen for her small business skills. She bought the Havre Taco Treat with $5,000 in savings and a loan and has increased sales by an average of 255 percent.

"I hope I'm setting a good example for other Native Americans and women who want to go into business. I've worked hard and am achieving success," Zabrocki told The Great Falls Tribune.

The U.S. Small Business Administration will present the award to Zabrocki at the Taco Treat on January 30.
