New Mexico Pueblos gear up for Super Tuesday

The 19 Pueblos in New Mexico are getting ready for the state's Democratic primary on February 5.

The Democratic party is setting up more than 180 polling sites across the state, including several on Pueblo reservations. Joe Garcia, the chairman of the All Indian Pueblo Council, said tribal voters are looking for the candidate who respects tribal sovereignty.

"I think the candidates that have the vote would be those candidates that have been informed or made the effort to gain the knowledge on what Indian Country is about," Garcia, who also serves as president of the National Congress of American Indians, told the Associated Press.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) is sending former President Bill Clinton to the state on Thursday. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois), who has been endorsed by Jemez Pueblo leader Benny Shendo Jr., plans to visit on Friday.
