Eastern Cherokee Band loses three prosecutors

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has lost its top criminal prosecutor and two aides.

Chief Prosecutor James Kilbourne recently resigned to go into private practice. Prosecutors Theressa Holland and Chris Siewers have since tendered their resignations for undisclosed reasons.

The tribe says its court system will continue to operate since Holland and Siewers will be staying on for a few more weeks. The job for chief prosecutor is being advertised.
