Geri Small elected Northern Cheyenne president

Geri Small has been elected president of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana.

Small served as the tribe's first female leader from 2000 to 2004. She lost her re-election bid in November 2004 to Eugene Little Coyote.

Little Coyote was subsequently ousted by the tribal council last year. Rick Wolfname was serving as interim president and will return to his seat as vice president after Small is inducted.

Small plans to continue serving as chief professional officer of the Northern Cheyenne Boys & Girls Club.
