White Earth chair delivers State of Nation address

White Earth Nation Chairwoman Erma J. Vizenor delivered the fourth annual State of the Nation last Friday.

Vizenor said the tribe is in a strong financial shape. "Nothing has come easy. Hard work, sacrifice, dedication and a vision for the future have made our achievements possible," she told a large crowd at the Shooting Star Casino and Event Center, The Detroit Lakes Tribune reported.

Vizenor said the tribe is pursuing alternative energy projects, including a $2 million wind turbine. The tribe is conducting a comprehensive study to address low achievement and high dropout rates and has a slew of construction projects lined up, including a $15 million new tribal headquarters.
