Bad River protest supports ousted chairwoman

Members of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa held a protest on Monday to support ousted chairwoman Loretta Livingston.

Tribal voters narrowly recalled Livingston from office last week. About 30 protesters claimed she was unfairly ousted. Some also said off-reservation tribal members were denied a right to vote.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has been asked to investigate the tribe's finances and the election.
