Students compete for tribal college ambassador

Eight tribal college students are competing to serve as ambassador for the the American Indian Higher Education Consortium.

Mr. and Ms. AIHEC will be selected during the 27th annual conference this week. Contestants include Steven Raining Bird, a 24-year-old student at United Tribes Technical College; Craig Graveratte, a 37-year-old student at Saginaw Chippewa College; and Kathleen Hart, a 48-year-old student at Saginaw Chippewa College.

The winners, who will announced on Thursday, will receive a $1,000 scholarship as part of their prize.

The conference is taking place in Bismarck, North Dakota.
