Native American Bank doubles income in first quarter

The Native American Bank reported an "exemplary" first quarter in 2008.

The bank earned $234,000, up 102 percent from the first quarter in 2007. Total interest income rose by 20 percent to $1.9 million and revenue was nearly $2.2 million, the best quarter in the bank's history. Total assets were $103 million, up 22 percent, and deposits grew by 22 percent to almost $91 million.

Native American Bank is owned by 26 tribes, Alaska Native corporations and Alaska Native villages.
