Yankton Sioux to block access to hog farm site

Members of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota plan to block access to a hog farm under development in Charles Mix County.

Starting today, the protesters will erect a blockade on a Bureau of Indian Affairs road. BIA Road 29 is the only way to get to the site, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported.

Longview Farms of Iowa is building a large-scale hog farm at the site. Tribal members and local residents say the operation will harm the environment.
