New Mexico tribes share environmental concerns

Tribal and state officials met for the fourth annual Tribal Environmental Summit in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Monday.

Tribal leaders said their biggest concern was waste contamination from septic tanks. They were also worried about the environmental impacts of methamphetamine production, drug use and uranium.

The summit preceded the 15th National Tribal Environmental Conference, which is hosted by the National Tribal Environmental Council.
