North Carolina Indians accept radio show apology

The North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs agreed to work with radio station G105 to improve relations after a DJ and his staff apologized for their derogatory remarks.

The commission and the Lumbee Tribe sought the firing of WDCG's Bob Dumas and two other co-hosts of "Bob and the Showgram." The DJs referred to Indian people as "lazy" and "inbred" on their show last week and specifically singled out Lumbees.

The commission will now work with the station on ways to promote and support Indian issues. Greg Richardson, the executive director of the commission, called the agreement historic.
