Saginaw Chippewa Tribe to replace council member

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan will hold a special election July 8 to replace a council member who was ousted for failing drug tests.

Whoever wins the election will serve the remainder of David Sowmick's term. The term expires in December 2009.

The tribe requires all candidates and sitting council members to undergo drug tests. Sowmick was the first council member removed for failing.
