Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe honors fallen officer

The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe and hundreds of law enforcement personnel paid tribute on Thursday to the first tribal officer to die in the line of duty.

Adam Menuez, 27, was responding to a call on the reservation when he lost control of his vehicle. He had only been on duty with the tribe for five months when he died on July 4, 2007.

"Even when he was citing someone (for an infraction), he led people to feel that everything was going to be OK," Vice Chair Rochanne Downs said, The Reno Gazette-Journal reported. "One of his favorite things to do was to shoot hoops with the tribal children and just talk to them and their parents."

Menuez's name and the name of Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kara Kelly-Borgognone, who died in the line of duty in February, were added to the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
