Native residential students wary of claims process
Some former students of Native residential schools don't want to relive the abuse they suffered just to get additional compensation from the Canadian government.

Every student received $10,000, plus $3,000 for each year they attended a school. But to qualify for up to $275,000 in additional compensation, former students have to write a detail account of the abuse, provide documentation and produce witnesses, if necessary.

"I don't think I can do it," Sylvia Gould, who went to a school in Nova Scotia, told CBC News.

Canada agreed to pay $2 billion to settle residential school cases. About 75,000 former students have received their share of the settlement.
