Frank Thompson, Navajo Code Talker, dies at 87
Frank Tsosie Thompson, a Navajo Code Talker who served during World War II, died on Monday. He was 87.

Thompson, who lived on the Navajo Nation, enlisted in the U.S. Marines on May 5, 1942, the day he graduated from high school. He served in Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Abemana Atoll, Saipan and Tinian.

In 2001, Thompson was one of the recipients of a Congressional Silver Medal.
