Colville Tribes reach agreement over inmate visits
The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation reached an agreement with the state of Washington over funeral visits by tribal members who are inmates in the state prison system.

The agreement is said to be the first of its kind. It allows inmates to make escorted funeral or death bed visits on the reservation.

The state Department of Corrections already allows some escorted visits but wouldn't allow tribal members to go to the reservation due to lack of state jurisdiction at Colville.
