Sandia Pueblo names new leaders for top two posts
Sandia Pueblo in New Mexico announced the appointment of a new governor and lieutenant governor on Monday.

Stuart Paisano was appointed governor. He previously served five terms, from 2000 through 2005, and was the tribe's youngest-ever governor.

Victor Montoya was appointed lieutenant governor. He replaces Ryan Paisano, who is Stuart Paisano's cousin.

Ryan Paisano and former governor Robert Montoya abruptly resigned last week, after just six months on the job. No reasons were given.

The tribe has been affected by a federal investigation into alleged sexual activity between a teen girl and a former basketball coach at the Santa Fe Indian School. The incident allegedly occurred at the tribe's hotel during the state girls basketball playoffs in March.
