Cortina Band hears complaints about proposed landfill
The Cortina Band of Wintun Indians held a hearing on Tuesday to address a controversial landfill on its reservation in California.

The tribe plans a 443-acre landfill in partnership with a Canadian company. Up to 1,500 tons of waste will be trucked to the site every day.

A group called Colusa Citizens for Safe Water opposes the project. Residents say the landfill will pollute drinking water.

The tribe's Environmental Protection Agency held the hearing but has not said when construction of the landfill might begin.
