White Earth Band to open youth treatment center
The White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians has purchased a youth treatment center in Bemidji, Minnesota.

The tribe bought the 40-acre center after it was shut down by the Episcopal Community Services last year. The facility will provide treatment for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.

The tribe is spending $8 million to buy and renovate the center. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community contributed $2 million and the state Legislature contributed $2 million.
