The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is being asked to overturn a Montana law that limits hunting on reservations to members of federally recognized tribes.
Mountain States Legal Foundation is representing Randy V. Roberts, who owns land within the Crow Reservation. He believes he has a right to operate a bird shooting preserve but can't because the state law limits big game hunting to tribal members.
A federal judge granted the state's motion to dismiss, which Roberts appealed. Mountain States believes the law is unconstitutional.
The case is Roberts v. Hagener.
