South Carolina tribes celebrate new legislation
Tribes in South Carolina celebrated the enactment of two bills into law on Tuesday.

Tribal leaders will now be able to perform marriage ceremonies under one of the bills. The other allows the use of wild turkey feathers in arts and crafts.

"It's a big step forward — we've been underprivileged for too long," Santee Chief Roosevelt Scott said of the new laws, The Charleston Post and Courier reported.

The bills were signed by Gov. Mark Sanford (D).
