Navajo Nation Council rejects term limit measure
The Navajo Nation Council voted 56-16 to defeat a measure that would have imposed term limits on delegates.

The bill would have limited delegates to four consecutive four-year terms and the council speaker to four consecutive two-year terms. A term limited delegate could wait four years and seek re-election.

The council has 88 delegates and is facing a proposal from President Joe Shirley Jr. to reduce the size to 24 delegates.
