Indian flag flown at Alcatraz auctioned for $60K

A flag that was flown on Alcatraz Island sometime during the Indian occupation of 1969-1971 was auctioned for $60,000 in California.

The PBA Galleries auction house in San Francisco expected "Old Glory's Helper Flag" to sell between $100,000 and $150,000. But Indians who took part in the occupation say they don't remember it and don't remember Lulie Nall, a Penobscot woman who designed it and brought it to the island.

The flag was sold on behalf of Daniel Hagar, a Florida man who said Nall, who died in 1983, was his stepfather's aunt, the Associated Press reported.
