Utah team told to go 'back to the reservation'
Indian students and alumni at the University of Utah want an apology for the behavior of a Brigham Young University at a volleyball game last November.

The unidentified female student brought a dry-erase board to the game between the Utah Utes and the BYU Cougars. The student wrote "Back to the Reservation U" and "Trail of Tears Part II" on the board. A photo was published in The Daily Utah Chronicle on November 12, 2007.

"The signs are also particularly poignant for the various Ute tribes and bands that were forcibly relocated to various reservations in the state of Utah and Colorado," Utah graduate Debra Yazzie told The Navajo Times.

Tom Holmoe, BYU's athletic director, apologized for the incident but appeared to be upset that Yazzie and others started a petition that seeks an apology.
