Police cite 'suspects' in death of Pechanga leader
Gabriel Pico, a leader of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, fell to the ground and lost consciousness during an altercation at a strip club in Denver, Colorado, The Rocky Mountain News reports.

The paper quotes a police report that describes security guards at the Diamond Cabaret club as "suspects" who were involved in a "physical altercation" with Pico, 41, in the early morning hours of August 30. Pico died on Monday in a local hospital.

Pico, who was elected to the tribal council in July, was in Denver to attend the Democratic National Convention. He was not a delegate, a tribal spokesperson said.
