The Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe signed an agreement to send its inmates to Jefferson County, Washington.
The tribe will pay the county jail $69.50 per day per offender. The agreement lasts a year.
The county expects to see three to four tribal inmates a week, the sheriff said.
