Kevin Gover, the director of the National Museum of the American Indian, is dismissing speculation of a Cabinet post under president-elect Barack Obama.

Gover, a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, surfaced earlier this week as a contender for Secretary of the Interior Department. But a spokesperson said he's not up for the job.

"There's no truth to the rumor," said Eileen Maxwell, director of public affairs for NMAI, told The Arizona Republic.

Gover ran the Bureau of Indian Affairs during the last three years of the Clinton administration.
