Tax exemption weighed for Tlingit-Haida Tribes
The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska could gain an exemption from sales tax in Juneau.

The exemption would mainly apply to purchases made by the federally recognized tribe. The city's finance director said the tax impact would only be about $10,000.

The Douglas Indian Association would also gain a sales tax exemption under a proposal being considered by the Juneau Assembly.
