Cherokee Nation donates $300K to fire agencies


The Cherokee Nation donated more than $300,000 to 117 fire departments in rural areas of northeastern Oklahoma.

The tribe donated $2,609.50 to each department. Chief Chad Smith said tribal members depend on rural fire agencies.

The tribe has donated more than $1 million over the past three years.
