U.S. Attorney to release report on Yakama deaths
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington plans to release a draft report on 16 unsolved deaths on the Yakama Nation.

All of the cases involve women, some of whom were sexually assaulted. Tribal members said they haven't any information about the deaths.

"Nobody knew what was going on, and even today we don't know," vice chairwoman Lavina Washines told The Yakima Herald-Republic. "Nothing was ever resolved."

The report was commissioned after a visit to the reservation by former U.S. Attorney General Roberto Gonzales. Authorities say as many as 32 cases may need to be examined.
