The National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., is hosting a series of events and an exhibit to coincide with the inauguration of president-elect Barack Obama.

"Out of Many" features performances from Cherokee storyteller Gayle Ross, the Native Hawaiian dance group Halau Ho’omau, the Black Bear Singers and other artists and groups. Other cultures, including Irish and Cambodian, will be represented during the events, which take place January 17-19.

The museum is also hosting an exhibit called "A Century Ago . . . They Came as Sovereign Leaders" that focuses on the six tribal leaders who took part in the inaugural parade for President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905. It runs from January 14 through February 17.
