Nottawaseppi Huron Band negotiates service deal
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi is negotiating a municipal services agreement with Athens Township in Michigan.

The tribe proposed to pay $6,200 per year for fire and medical services on the Pine Creek Reservation. The township rejected the offer and wants to base the agreement on the assessed value of the tribe's properties.

The tribe responded by asking for its $1.1 million medical center to be exempt from the calculation. The township won't agree to that condition.
