Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe fires political consultant
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts fired its political consultant on Thursday, with new Chairman Cedric Cromwell citing a need to "start fresh."

The consultant, Stephen Graham, helped the tribe in its bid for federal recognition. He reportedly introduced former chairman Glenn Marshall to now-convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Marshall has since pleaded guilty to making illegal political contributions and other crimes. Graham is referred to in court papers as "Political Consultant A" and allegedly arranged for the contributions.
