Salazar promises review of federal recognition
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said he will review the federal recognition process at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Salazar agrees the BIA takes too long to make decisions. Some tribal petitioners have waited 30 years for an answer.

The Bush administration elevated the federal recognition staff to a new under directly under the assistant secretary for Indian affairs.
