Oglala Sioux Tribe taking care of rescued horses
The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is taking care of a herd of horses that were rescued on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

About 80 horses were found starving in a barren pasture in January. Some of the weaker ones have died and tribal and local officials are struggling to find the money to feed them.

The tribe is paying for the herd's food and care but is running out of resources. Officials in Shannon County are accepting donations of hay and money for the animals.

The county plans to charge the owner of the herd with misdemeanor abuse.
