An Oklahoma museum is honoring a Chickasaw man who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service during the Korean War.

Not much was known about Raymond Harvey, who was born in 1920. His mother was Chickasaw but didn't enroll him in the Chickasaw Nation.

Roland Earsom, the director of the Arbuckle Historical Society Museum, decided to find out more after being contacted by a donor. He learned that Harvey, as a captain in the Army, risked his life during the war on March 9, 1951.

Harvey and three solders were presented with the Medal of Honor by then-president Harry Truman. He was previously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts for his service in World War II.

Harvey, who served as a consultant for the movie industry, died in 1966 in Arizona.
