Shakopee $1M grant to help Flandreau Santee Sioux
A $1 million grant from the Shakopee Mdewankanton Sioux Community of Minnesota will help the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota provide homes for elders.

The money will be used to fund construction of a senior independent living project. Officials say the project will provide safe and comfortable home for elders and create jobs in Flandreau.

The Shakopees, known as the most generous tribe in Indian Country, previously awarded over $1.3 million in grants to the Flandreau Santee Sioux.
