Cherokee tribes to reunite at historic Red Clay capital
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of North Carolina and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma will reunite at the historic Cherokee capitol of Red Clay, Tennessee.

The Cherokees moved their capital to Red Clay after being forced out of Georgia. But once in Tennessee, they learned about the federal government's plans to send them to present-day Oklahoma on what is now known as the Trail of Tears.

The tribes reunited for the first time at Red Clay in 1984. They are hosting a series of events at Red Clay State Park from Thursday-Saturday.
