Senate panel backs Sebelius as HHS secretary
The Senate Finance Committee voted 15-8 on Tuesday to advance the nomination of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Only two Republicans backed Sebelius. Some had concerns over an abortion doctor who contributed to the governor's campaign.

If confirmed by the Senate, Sebelius would oversee the Indian Health Service. The Senate Indian Affairs Committee holds a hearing on Thursday for Yvette Roubideaux, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, to lead the agency.
