The National Congress of American Indians has purchased a building for the Embassy of Tribal Nations in Washington, D.C.

Dozens of tribes and hundreds of individuals donated over $2.5 million to help NCAI land the space at 1514 P Street NW. The organization will move into the new building later this month.

"To have our own home in Washington, D.C., sends the message that tribal nations are serious about working closely with members of Congress and federal agencies on issues important to Indian Country," said NCAI President Joe A. Garcia. "We are eager to continue our work on behalf of tribes in our new embassy."

The building was recently listed at $8.5 million. NCAI hopes to raise a total of $20 million for the Tribal Embassy effort.
