Alaska Native corporation ousts board members
Two board members of Cook Inlet Region Inc., an Alaska Native regional corporation, were ousted following a lawsuit over an election.

The board voted 10-3 to remove Bob Rude and Mike Thomas. Both are part of a group called New Alliance for the Future of CIRI that a judge said mailed out false and misleading information to shareholders in violation of state securities law.

"I should be sad but I'm not really all that upset," Rude told The Anchorage Daily News. "I'm not going to run away and hide. I'll fight until (shareholders) get rights."

Rude and Thomas were replaced by two candidates who had lost the election last year.

In related news, Ed Herndon was named chief executive of Chugach Alaska Corp.
