Indian skateboarding exhibit opening at NMAI
An exhibit on skateboarding opens this Friday at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

"Ramp It Up" features photographs and skateboarding memorabilia from across Indian Country. The skate park operated by the Pala Band of Mission Indians of California is part of the exhibit.

"As part of doing research for this exhibition, I was kind of always on the prowl for which Native American communities were building skate parks," curator Betsy Gordon told The North County Times. "Pala's is an example, I think, of a real investment in their youth."

The exhibit runs through September 13.
