Bad River Band wins treatment as state status
The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians has won treatment as state status from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The tribe will set its own water quality standards under the Clean Water Act. The standards will affect on-reservation and some off-reservation activities.

Since 1989, 45 tribes have been authorized to administer their own water quality standards, the EPA said in a press release.
